Most research indicates that normal exposure to infrared is not dangerous, but because infrared light is perceived as heat energy, it is important to protect both the skin and eyes from it if your sun exposure is more than moderate. Glass lenses are stronger than most other lens material and the UVA and UVB glass also provides protection against infrared rays. Glass lenses have a harder surface and thus are more scratch resistant, they are very easy on the eyes when wearing them for long periods of time.
