Shipping Methods

When shopping with us, you have several options for shipping:

  • Overnight
  • Two business day
  • Ground
  • International

When you choose one of these options from the menu Blue Gem Sunglasses & Designline Readers will choose the carrier that offers the best rate. If you prefer, you can choose a specific carrier, but the rates may not be the most economical for that type of shipping service. The freight rates quoted are only an estimate, based upon the products ordered. Actual freight charges will be billed at the time of shipment

Domestic Shipping

  1. Your shipping rate is based on order weight, zone and the speed of delivery you have chosen.
  2. Additional shipping charges may apply for items such as fixtures or oversized boxes.

International Shipping

  1. UPS is our preferred international shipper. You may choose a specific carrier, but the rates may not be the most economical. You will be contacted by a customer service representative with your international shipping rate.

All Other Shipments

  1. Truck freight, air freight, international air and ocean freight fees are based on weight and are billed at exact shipping cost. Truck freight pricing varies - please call for an estimate. Additional fees may be charged for handling oversized items. For orders placed on the web that require truck freight, an agent will contact you with a cost estimate. Orders placed online and requiring truck freight will be placed on hold. You will then be contacted by a Blue Gem or Designline Reader customer service representative to finalize your order. Most orders are shipped within 48 hours of receipt.

Returns and Corrections

Do not discard your invoice! Returns are credited or refunded in the same payment method used to purchase the merchandise. Keep a photocopy of your invoice for your records.

If you have questions about a return, call 800.543.9802 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Friday).

To make a return:

If you have a problem with your order and need to make a return, please call customer service at 800.543.9802 to request a Return Authorization Number. Returns will only be accepted with the RA number clearly marked.

  1. Pack the item(s) in a sturdy carton (the original, if possible) and seal with strong tape. Blue Gem is not responsible for any merchandise returned in a non-padded envelope or inadequate packaging.
  2. Mark your package clearly: Blue Gem/Designline Returns, 6381 Rose Lane Unit B Carpinteria, CA 93013 USA. Be sure to include the RA number. Please include a copy of you invoice inside the box with instructions for credit or replacement(s).
  3. For your protection, ship all returns prepaid and insured. We will refund your postage when appropriate.
  4. If you require a replacement before the return is received, please call customer service at 800.543.9802. Your replacement and your return may cross in the mail.

We charge a 10% restocking fee (plus postage) on all refused or unclaimed merchandise, or merchandise returned after the 30-day warranty period. Special orders and custom-made items are not returnable.

Damaged Packages

Please contact the delivery carrier (UPS), and have them examine the original box & packaging to make a claim and obtain a refund. Although we are happy to assist in helping out with damaged goods from shipping, UPS will only work with the consignee regard this matter.

Items sold in minimum quantity packages MUST be returned complete. We charge a broken package fee of $5 or 10%, whichever is higher, on packages returned with less than the quantity on the original invoice.

Our Guarantee: You Must Be Satisfied!

We guarantee everything you buy from Blue Gem Sunglasses or Designline Readers to be free from defects in material and/or workmanship. If you're not completely satisfied with any product purchased from us, return it within 30 days and we will exchange it, replace it or refund your money, whichever you prefer. This warranty does not include incidental or consequential expenses. No other warranty is implied.
